Non-Renewable fuels are fuels that can't be reproduced regenerated, regrown or used on a scale that could sustain its consumption rate. Fuels that consume much faster than nature can create them are also considered non-renewable.
Coal |
Examples of non-renewable fuels that i will be talking about are:
Gas |
Oil |
How is oil and gas formed?
all the oil and gas we use today started off as microscopic plants and animals. When they were alive they collected energy from the sun and kept them as carbon molecules in their body. When they died they sank to the bottom of the sea and over millions of years layer after layer of sediment, other plants and bacteria were formed. As they became buried deeper and deeper, heat and pressure began to rise. the amounted of pressure and heat determined whether the material became oil or gas.
How is coal formed?
§Coal forms when dead plant material builds up and up to form peat, which is the first step. This is compacted between layers of sedimentary rock, forming a rock called lignite. Then this is compacted even more. Then, heat and pressure deep beneath the surface create coal. Coal is a metamorphic rock.
